Blood Orange Cider and Gin Cocktail
This spritzer type drink is perfect for the summer and features a cider I have been waiting for since it was announced. Though Austin Eastciders is distributed across the United States not that many people know about the cider company from the Texas capital. They have several different flavors outside of the original cider, which includes Pineapple, Texas Honey (a personal favorite), and Hopped-Cider. Their Blood Orange gives a hint of citrus, which gives the cider a more summery and refreshing taste. I decided to make a cocktail featuring gin, ginger ale, and bitters to pump up the flavors and give it a more bubbly taste.
Total time: 5 minutes | Servings: 2
½ of Austin Eastciders Blood Orange Cider
1 oz Gin of your choosing (I am using Tyler’s Original City of London Dry Gin)
4 dashes of Spicy Bitters
Optional: Blood Orange Slice
1) In a pint glass (or shaker if available), add ice ¾ of the way up.
2) Add gin
3) Add your spicy bitters; if you want a more citrus taste you can divide the dashes between spicy and orange bitters.
4) Add your ½ of cider and stir with a cocktail spoon.
5) Place strainer over the top and strain into champagne flute.
6) Top with ginger ale
Optional: Garnish with blood orange slice
